Paint correction in Johannesburg.

Swirl marks, holograms and wash scratches machine-polished out of the clear coat, then sealed so they stay out. Priced by vehicle class from R2 000, in Kyalami.

What correction actually is

Most paint that looks dull is not dull. It is covered in fine scratches that scatter light in every direction instead of reflecting it back at you. Swirl marks come from washing, holograms come from someone else’s rotary polisher, and etching comes from bird lime and water spots left to sit. Correction takes those out by working through heavy, medium and fine compound stages until the surface is flat enough to reflect properly again. How many stages your car needs is the whole variable, which is why nobody honest quotes it from a photograph.

Paint enhancementfromR1 500

One machine polish with a 3-in-1 high gloss compound, after a full decontamination and clay bar. Lifts gloss and hides light marring. Finished with a Labocosmetica quick ceramic detailer. The right call on newer paint that has been looked after.

Paint correctionfromR2 000

Heavy, medium and fine compound stages, only as many as the paint actually needs, then a high gloss sealant and Labocosmetica HPC two-year nano ceramic coating for 30% more gloss. The right call when the paint has real swirls or holograms in it.

Correction is quoted on the car. The number of compound stages the paint actually needs is what moves the price.
